Down to the Final 16!
Funny how fast 1,902 becomes just 16, but we’re here. These are the elites!
There were so many upsets in Rounds 6 and 7 for me (comedypace, sajeel, zdoyle, grizzgrazz, dave.foxx — all worthy players whom I expected to be in the final 16), so it’s hard for me to predict a winner. We have a crop of new players or perhaps old players who have really stepped it up.
This is all I’m going to say: I predict the winner of the July Tournament will be a woman! I won’t say which one, but I think you’re all in for a shock, because she’s pretty “slick” (and I don’t mean cheating).
- idjd
- rokwilder – Our only past winner still in the mix; gotta give him that edge
- zlamder – A dominant player; worked me over good in a friendly match recently
- wildonrio
- PSNAX
- Jesse Davis
- rfar45
- golfnphil – Fear him; I’ve seen him retire many a top player
- fongster
- 2tuff
- Scotty Poo Poo – Don’t let the name fool you; this player’s all business
- Veetus
- WWF Lover – Took down sajeel in 2…need I say more?
- _22_ – Just lost to this player in a friendly match today. A very patient and methodical player. I swear I was baited into a TW just so that he could outscore me with an ‘X’ on a DL going 2 ways. Now, who does that?!
- Meshell333
- noela67
I’m sure all the other players in the final 16 are excellent, too. I just don’t have as much exposure to them, but they’re certainly making their marks now.
Can’t wait to see who makes it to the final 8!

Open letter to Rokwilder: Say it isn’t so. WWF Lover came back early yesterday, so it couldn’t be a matter of time. This is about challenges, fun, and sportsmanship. There are a lot of us that are no longer in the tournament, but that doesn’t mean we don’t watch with interest what “champions” do. Please meet the challenge, don’t back in. Set something up with WWF Lover, maybe a speed match or two!
Congratulations WWF Lover. I remember when Sajeel took on several players to even the numbers, wanting to go through the best to get the crown. Now, as champions do, I’m sure Rokwilder has done the same. Is there an update to game two? three? As Sajeel said, “this match could easily be the final”. Let us know.
UPDATE. Rokwilder has decided to accept my initial forfeiture as he is traveling and has difficulty getting access to WIFI networks. While I am disappointed, I have only myself to blame as I let another player get under my skin. Winning isn’t as important to me as playing with integrity and fun is. So until next time, I will let those who have a more vested interest in winning continue on without me…all is good. See you on the outside!
Hey guys these are just predictions its nothing personak you should not forfeit or feel cursed because of this …if you are here it means you are good and deserve this and maybe one of you can take it all…so just chill, relax after all its a game only whats will be the fun if you guys take each other opinon to heart….just show you are the best
Maaria if you’re referring to my comment on Sajeel’s, I was being sarcastic. I don’t actually feel cursed. I should have put an emoticon
I am sooo sorry that WWF Lover has bowed out of the tournament. I am currently playing him/her and could not be more impressed by by his/her sense of fun and willingness to “chat” and communicate. I could relay this message privately, but I’d rather do this openly: First, I know that I’m speaking for a lot of people when I say, “please reconsider your withdrawal”. You are a breath of fresh air, nice, fun to play, and, generally, come across as a person who just enjoys the game. [moderated remark removed - sorry - Admin] Again, please reconsider. We (the tournament) need you!
I come here humbled by the experience of this tournament, and privileged to have played against many a great player.
I came to play for fun after my sister talked me into it. I consider myself a humble modest person, and was alarmed today to learn that, because I expressed an opinion that I was actually starting to think I could win this game, that I am considered arrogant. That is the last thing any of my friends, family or co-workers would ever call me. My expression of that was because I was surprising even myself at how well I was doing in the tourney. I obviously didn’t express that well.
What I know is that a game, meant to be fun, is not something that is worth ruining a reputation I have spent decades building, and one that I hold close to my heart, and closer to my family’s heart. When winning against one of my opponents in this tourney, I was so far ahead of her, I wanted to help her, so the remainder of my plays were about setting up tiles so she could play on the TW’s and TL’s and the game wouldn’t look so lopsided.
Because something I said has been misinterpreted and has called my character into question, I am bowing out of this tournament. To be thought of as something that I am not was never what I entered this tournament for.
I with all of the rest of you well.
WWF Lover
Noooo! What can we do to get you to reconsider? You’ve played almost a month, investing so much. So many of us believe you can win this, and if you forfeit, we’ll never know.
If anything, see it through for the players you defeated. Otherwise, Rok is going to get a pass this round, and he’s already envied for entering back to back as champ.
Regarding the criticism, well every top player has been attacked in chat and sometimes in these boards. Wear it as a merit badge!
But for goodness sake, don’t drop out. Please reconsider it.
I will play it out. Thanks guys
i have contacted Rok to see if he wants to play this out, but it may be too late.
For the record, I play this game for fun. Twice now I have been personally insulted over daring to be happy that I was playing well. First told I am arrogant, now this morning’s message is how disappointed they are in me.
This game is about playing a game, not about being personally judged. Personal judgments are reserved for my family and friends, not a virtual stranger on the other side of an Iphone who knows nothing about me. To take something “fun” and cheapen it b\y deciding to go on personal attacks of someone is not only wrong, it is the very thing I am being accused of, arrogant and disappointing.
I will proceed if Rok is willing to. (and no it wasn’t Rok)
I think most of us are in it for the fun. I respect that if it’s no longer fun you were compelled to bow out. Not judging you for that whatsoever.
My request that you stay in was kind of selfish in that I wanted to be proved right about how formidable a player you are. And we all love to see a good fight go to the very end.
Thanks for being willing to jump back in. I’m hoping Rok will take up on your challenge to play it out. But he does reserve the right to claim the round under the circumstances. And I’ll respect whatever comes of it.
Tournament goes on!
no problem. I understand Mark. It’s in Rok’s hands. I will accept whatever he wants to do. Hopefully he will play it out, but I understand if he wants to take the win. All i know is that the game stops being “fun” when people want to sit in judgment on you for simply playing and enjoying a game. It’s ridiculous really.
So many great matchups here… My money is on idjd as the underdog to win it all.
I think there should be a law against playing the last two tournament champions back to back. LOL. But thanks for the backing Sajeel! I can only hope but game one is not my friend. Thankfully there are two more games to go!
I figured I’d do my own predictions for this round of 16.
I think Idjd will win out over 2tuff. My wife has played 2tuff and I think I remember playing idjd. Based on our collective experiences, I’m calling it this way.
Scotty Poo Poo over Jesse Davis. I am not familiar with Jesse Davis, but based on both of their histories, I think Scotty Poo Poo will win in the end after a 3 game match.
Meshell333 and PSNAX–could go either way based on their previous performances.
Noela67 will probably beat fongster. I called it for Noela67 because she knocked out comedypace. Otherwise, their histories are similar.
Rfar45 over Veetus. Veetus has had too many incomplete rounds and thus I think Rfar45 will take it. There is something to be said about the practice that is acquired by playing every round.
Zlamder over Wildonrio. I’ve played both of them and can say that Zlamder will be successful.
_22_ over Golfnphil. Although both of these players are regulars near the end of tournaments, I think _22_ plays with incredible flare and tends to think two or three moves ahead.
Rokwilder vs. WWF Lover. This match could easily be the final. Rokwilder is very strategic and methodical. Although I sincerely respect Rokwilder, I think that WWF Lover will win this in 3. My reasoning, however, for this call is that I want to see new champions every cycle. If the same people win over and over, then the site loses its charm.
