Watch the Clock in Round 2

Written by bloggermark

Bear in mind the cautionary tale of several hundred players who were eliminated in R1 due to failure to report. If you have an active game with no play by your opponent in over 1 day, and you made no agreement on a postponement, then you have every right to declare a no-show.

Better to ask for quick play now than to have to declare a win against your slow-playing opponent’s protest later.

And above all… have fun out there! It’s just a game. :-)

I Was Wonderig that there are so many words which are valid but when you try to find meaning it shows no dictionary results like “oorie” and on the other side the word ‘fag” which has proper meaning but is not valid how does it work.

WWF uses enable1.txt, which appears to be a public domain word list. But they have modified it to exclude certain words and include others. I don’t know all the criteria they use, but they obviously try to censor terms deemed by them to be vulgar, sexist, or racist.

Words with Friends servers seem to be OVERLOADED and it takes a lot longer to complete the games. In fact, I didn’t finish my 2nd game in Round 1 due to the slowness of the system. WordswithFriends.net should give more time to complete the games due the systems problems.

if you check out the 3-letter word list ->
    pst doesn’t show up :\

So maybe the word validator shouldn’t be used to validate words…

You may have a point. But I’ll leave it there for now to at least establish initial suspicion about non-words that get played in the game. If the word sounds weird, isn’t in the validator, and isn’t in any dictionaries, then that’s a good basis on which to inquire further. But by no means is the validator conclusive.

Yes, I’m bummed about this. Again, NewToy says they might put something on their site to validate words. I hope they follow through. Or update the app to protect against hackers.

Im having a problem with the app, would like to know if anyone else has it and how the fixed it, the app keeps updating forever and ever, im worried i wont be able to finish my game even though i have a commanding lead

I’m curious how the World Validator works. Does it use a set of words accepted by WWF or just a list of valid words from a dictionary? I ask because WWF would not let me play, “pst”, “oda” “rep” or “sibs” even though they’re considered “valid”.

    And yes, I took screenshots.

Interesting that it will not accept SH*T (no surprise) but it will accept SH*TS.

I have to confess that my on-page word validator uses the base ENABLE1.txt word list, but does not include all the New Toy patches. Unfortunately, they told me they do not distribute their word list. Double trouble, because the hackers are sure having fun with that list!
